American Superconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: AMSC) is seeing a surge in pre-market trading this morning.  While it has already traded 100,000 shares in the pre-market hours with about 30 minutes to open it is actually a bit surprising that it hasn’t traded more volume than this when you see the price move.

You can see the full details of this order, but the company announced a $450 million follow-on order in China that is essentially worth more than two-years worth of revenues.

Shares closed at $36.08 yesterday and are up north of $42.00 in pre-market trading.  This will be a 52-week high as the 52-week trading range is $15.51 to $39.50.  In fact, this is a multi-year high as you have to go back to the 2000 bubble days to see higher share prices.
