Downward Volume Surge: Gabelli… GAMCO Investors (GBL)

GAMCO Investors, Inc. (NYSE: GBL), parent of Gabelli Funds is seeing some rather unusual trading volume today.  The investment manager and advisory firm saw nearly a 7% drop toward the end of the day.  Shares have been weak all day, but a review of the share trading volume is a true head-scratcher.  Its 6.8% drop to $51.85 is on more than 800,000 shares with about 20 minutes to the close.  The reason may be merely the most simple explanation… “More sellers than buyers…” There was no solid news seen on wires today nor any major underlying gossip or rumor to explain it other than it is a financial stock with exposure to the financial sector.

Average trading volume:  146,500
52-Week Range:  $41.90 to $73.36
Stock Options:  NO
